Teacher Preparation Program Admission Application

Requirements to be admitted into the Teacher Preparation Program:

  • Completion of all freshmen courses
  • 2.5 overall cumulative GPA

Notes: All students in the College of Education and Human Development are subject to periodic background checks by the State of Louisiana and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

If you have ever been arrested for, charged with, convicted of, pled guilty or not contest to, or been sentenced for ANY criminal offense in ANY state, you will not be allowed to student teach or receive a teaching certificate from the Louisiana State Department of Education without an extensive appeal process that may or may not be granted by the State.

Residency Requirements

I hereby acknowledge the understanding that official Praxis II scores must be received by UL Lafayette by the deadline outlined below prior to approval to start Teacher Residency I.

  • December 1st deadline for those anticipating Teacher Residency I in Spring semester.
  • May 1st deadline for those anticipating Teacher Residency I in Fall semester.


I hereby acknowledge the understanding that it is my responsibility to check the testing windows set by ETS for all PRAXIS II tests to meet the established PRAXIS II deadlines for Residency I.

I hereby acknowledge the understanding that I must earn credit for Residency I and Residency II in consecutive semesters. Learn more about Teacher Residency requirements.
